Bridal scenario - You've picked your wedding date, booked your venue and even booked your photographer - YEY you're doing so well! However, 6-10 months before your wedding day, after months of following your chosen photographer on Instagram and Facebook, seeing all the wonderful couples they shoot and all the great photographs they come away with, you're starting to get a little nervous. "I'm not photogenic." "My photographs won't look nearly half as good as that." "Her couples are always so beautiful!" The seeds of doubt start to plant in your mind...
But I'm here to tell you PLEASE DON'T WORRY!!!
This is one of the most common bridal worries and emails I received from my couples, and I'm dedicating a blog post completely to it - the little bit of doubt that you might not want to voice. It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed, to feel out of your comfort zone. Let me let you into a little secret... none of my couples have been professional models! They are just real people, living the best day of their life, in real love - THAT is the secret to great photographs!
I completely understand the worry you might have about jumping in front of the camera, which is why, when I get the email from a bride explaining how nervous she is, as well as reassuring her, I will always recommend she think about having a pre wedding shoot.
A pre wedding shoot can REALLY give you peace of mind that no matter what, you will come away with amazing photographs on your big day. I always tell my couples, if you like your pre wedding photographs, imagine what your wedding day photographs will be like, when you've had your hair and makeup professionally done, had a dress made to fit only you, and are the happiest girl on earth that day!
During your pre-wed-shoot, you’ll have the chance to get to know me, experience how I shoot and how I handle informal photographs and use the natural light. Both you and I will find out more about each other, chat about your plans so far, and genuinely, become friends before your big day. This session does make a big impact on how the wedding day flows and helps you both feel a lot more comfortable. I’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how you two interact and how to photograph you in a genuine way! What I will learn about you during your engagement session is invaluable, and I'll give you so many little helpful hints and tips throughout the session you'll feel like such a pro on your big day because of the great practice you've already had! And that’s how it should be!
Don't feel like you HAVE to have one of these shoots before the big day though, I would say about a third of my couples choose to include this in their package. It's completely your choice and I'm here to support your on your wedding journey.
I've only touched upon one reason why you might like a pre wedding shoot... I could talk for HOURS about it, so instead, I thought I'd list out a couple of other reasons you might choose to have one:
Nerves
To get a photograph of the two of you for your Save The Dates/Invites
To have photographs of you both with your third member of the family - I'm meaning your dog!
Get photographs in a different location to your wedding day
Get natural photographs of the two of you before you become husband and wife
Maybe just to have fun!
For more information on my pre wedding shoots and to find out what they entail please drop me an email - info@camillalucindaphotography.com.
I only offer pre wedding shoots to couples who have already booked me for their wedding, so that I can be fully invested in you as a couple from the start! I price my shoots at £150, as low as I can to cover petrol/time so that it doesn't feel like such a big investment and is accessible to couples on a tight budget - which is basically every couple planning a wedding right?!?
