When I first shared a little sneak peek from Ellie & Aidan's wedding, I couldn't resist starting with their moment. The moment they stepped away from their wedding for an hour to visit their happy place: the beach they love so much.

Now that it's time to share a much bigger preview from their incredible day, it feels only right to tell the full story.

​

Ellie & Aidan were married at the beautiful Doxford Barns, beginning their day with a gorgeous ceremony in the Threshing Hall surrounded by all of the people who mean the most to them. Afterwards, everyone spilled out onto the front lawn for drinks, hugs, laughter and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes a wedding feel effortlessly perfect.

Of course, there was one very special guest who deserved plenty of attention too... Ralph. Their gorgeous dog played such a big part in the day, joining them for family photographs, making appearances throughout the celebrations, and generally stealing hearts wherever he went. Seeing how much he means to Ellie & Aidan made it even more special to have him woven into so many memories.

The speeches were another real highlight. There were plenty of laughs thanks to the best men, who had put together a brilliant slideshow... although the projector had other ideas! After refusing to cooperate, it unintentionally became the running joke, making everyone laugh even more than planned. Ellie then rounded everything off beautifully with a heartfelt speech of her own before we headed off for one final adventure.

Because sometimes the best part of a wedding day is pressing pause.

Ellie & Aidan left the celebrations for an hour so we could visit the beach that means so much to them. It's somewhere they escape to whenever they get the chance, usually with Ralph and, just as importantly, an obligatory trip to the local pub afterwards.

​

I won't lie, it was probably my favourite hour of the whole day.

​

Not because their wedding wasn't spectacular (it absolutely was), but because there is something incredibly special about stepping away from it all for a little while. No schedule. No guests. No distractions. Just the two of them. Hand in hand, with Ralph by their side, feeling the sand beneath their feet, listening to the waves rolling in, taking a deep breath and simply soaking up the fact that they were finally married.

​

It was peaceful, emotional, fun and completely, unmistakably them.

​

Those are often the moments I love photographing most, not because they're perfectly posed, but because they're real. Couples relax, conversations happen naturally, and you can almost feel them taking in everything they've just experienced together.

​

Back at Doxford Barns, the celebrations carried on exactly as you'd hope. The dance floor filled up from the very first song, everyone threw themselves into celebrating, and before long the beer pong was well underway, bringing the perfect end to an unforgettable day.

 

Ellie & Aidan, thank you both for trusting me to capture every part of your wedding, from the emotional moments in the Threshing Hall to portraits on your favourite beach, and everything in between. It was such a privilege to document a day that felt so full of love, laughter and personality. Congratulations again to you both.
