Their Wedding Story

Allyson & Ross had 3 non-negotiable suppliers when postponing their wedding, 3 suppliers they weren’t even contemplating losing; Three Hills Barn (their venue), Liz’s Country Kitchen (their caterer) and I’m unbelievably proud to say I was their third! So, when Friday came round, I was more than thrilled to capture their wedding day that they waited longer than they initially planned for!

But trust me – it was SO worth the wait!!

Allyson & Ross are honestly one of the nicest couples you’ll come across! I’m lucky enough to have known them a few years before they even got engaged due to shooting many of their other friends’ weddings, so when it came round to their big day I knew this would be a super special and wonderful day to be part of.

These two had a BIG surprise for the evening, but what Ross didn’t know was Allyson had another for him outside the church after the ceremony. Ross is part of a brass band and Allyson had planned for them to be outside the church playing ‘All you need is love’ as they exited as man and wife. Since there were tears even before the ceremony by both Allyson & Ross, when it came to the surprise upon exit, more incredibly happy tears started flowing!

On our way to Three Hills Barn for their reception we stopped off at Bassenthwaite Lake for some couple photographs but heading to Three Hills later than the rest of the guests meant we got stopped by a classic Cumbrian traffic jam… of getaway cows! I swear, each wedding brings a whole new ‘first’ for me and being late to your own reception because of cows is certainly one that I’m sure Allyson & Ross are still laughing at today!

After enjoying the summers sun outside post dinner, it was eventually time to start the evening with a wonderful live band and Allyson & Ross’ first dance. Little did their guests know that another surprise was on its way! A few songs after their first dance Ross joined the band to play trumpet and even had his own solo part with many cheers and woops from their guests (and happy tears from Allyson!)

Emotional, Loving and an utter joy, are the exact words I’d use to describe not just their wedding, but Allyson and Ross themselves! Everything about these two just works perfectly and it was an absolute pleasure to both watch and capture their wedding day. I wish these two the happiest of lives together starting with their honeymoon in September to Rome followed by a cruise. Allyson & Ross are both best friends and partners and I know they have some amazingly special years to come!
